Range Youth Camp

Interested in learning more about Rangeland Management, Wildlife Management and Native Plants?

Apply for a scholarship to attend.

When: Usually 2nd week in July
Where: Rock Springs Camp, south of Junction City
Who: High School Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors

To apply:
1) Send a letter telling us why you wish to attend
2) Send it by May 1st of each year

4-H Discovery Days
"Natural Resource Conservation Class"

Want to learn more about the soil, water, air, plants and animals? A field trip and demonstration are part of the course activities. This class is required to receive our scholarship to attend this class plus another one of your choice.

When: Held end of May or 1st of June each year
Where: Kansas State University

To apply:
1) Send a letter stating you want to attend the Natural Resource Conservation Class at 4-H Discovery Days
2) Send a letter of recommendation from a teacher
3) Send it by February 1st of each year

RCCD Scholarship in Conservation

Objective: This scholarship is intended to encourage students to increase their interest in conservation, to obtain technical competence in some phase of conservation and to pursue a career in this area of endeavor.

Eligibility
An applicant for the scholarship must:
a) Be a senior in or a recent graduate of a Riley County high school with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater (on a 4.0 scale)
b) Enroll in an agricultural or natural resource conservation related curriculum such as agronomy, soil science, range management, forestry, geography, journalism, agricultural education and wildlife management. Other areas related to conservation also qualify.

Amount
This scholarship will be in the amount of $100.

The scholarship will be awarded with a certificate at your school awards banquet in May. Applications are available through your principal's office or our office at 785-537-8764.

Integrating Agriculture into the Classroom

Two-week, three graduate credit hour course. Experience hands-on field trips and discussions. Create a new network of resources. Find practical and interesting applications for your classroom.

When: June and July
Where: Select from four locations. Each site varies in its field trips and class presentations.

To apply:

Apply no later than March 1st of each year.

RCCD sponsors partial scholarship for Riley County Teachers

An Interdisciplinary Environmental Education Workshop With the growing interest in and concern about the environment, the opportunity and need for effective environmental education has never been greater. This workshop will give you a greater understanding and appreciation of our natural resources and their role in our daily lives. The district sponsors one scholarship each year.

When: Early October
Where: At the lovely site of Rock Springs 4-H Center south of Junction City
